Harrisburg – Senator Bob Mensch (R-24) introduced Senate Resolution 442 which designates the week of October 16-22, 2016 as “Community College Completion Week”.
The resolution highlights the Commonwealth’s 14 community colleges which help increase the educational attainment level and work force readiness skills of Pennsylvanians.
“Community colleges provide a great economic option for an entry-level college education to many Pennsylvanians who could not afford their first two years of higher education otherwise,” said Mensch. “They also provide much-needed workforce development for individuals who need additional skill sets in order to remain marketable and relevant in the workplace.”
Community colleges offer affordable pathways to bachelor’s degrees through more than 2,700 transfer and articulation agreements which ensure that students can seamlessly transition from community college to an institution offering a 4 year degree. Studies show that students who complete their degrees will earn an average of $500,000 more over the course of their careers than their peers who did not complete their degree.
The resolution was unanimously adopted by the Senate.
