Sincerely, Tom Killion Assistance for Veterans AvailableI am beginning a partnership with the Pennsylvania American Legion to assist veterans at my Brookhaven office, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24th. I would like to encourage veterans and their families who have questions about benefits and programs to schedule an appointment for these assistance hours. A representative from the Pennsylvania American Legion will be available at my Brookhaven district office, located at 4110 Edgmont Avenue. Appointments for these hours are strongly encouraged and can be made by contacting the office at (610) 447 – 3163. If a veteran cannot attend this date, this service will be offered every fourth Wednesday of each month. REAL ID UpdatePennDOT has launched a public awareness campaign outlining the steps for residents who wish to get a REAL ID-compliant driver license. Although the REAL ID products will not be available until 2019, PennDOT encourages residents who want them to obtain any required documents in plenty of time. Those documents include birth certificates with the raised seal, Social Security card, proof of all legal name changes and two proofs of current Pennsylvania address. My office can help with obtaining copies of the birth certificates. The federal government has extended the deadline for REAL ID compliance in Pennsylvania to Oct. 10, 2018, so current driver licenses and identifications are still accepted for domestic air travel and entry into certain federal facilities. More information about REAL ID is available here. Wreaths Across America DayI am a co-sponsor and I support Senate Resolution 250, which designates December 16, 2017, as “Wreaths Across America Day” in Pennsylvania. The Wreaths Across America project began in 1992, and is now an annual tradition where Maine balsam fir remembrance wreaths are placed on the graves of the fallen heroes buried at Arlington National Cemetery. The intent of the resolution is very simple – remember the fallen heroes of the United States; honoring those who serve; and reminding the people of the United States about the sacrifices made by soldiers to preserve our freedoms in the United States. Last year – in addition to Arlington - there were 1,200,000 wreaths placed at 1,226 locations nationwide as a part of Wreaths Across America. I was honored to attend the special service in the Capitol Rotunda on Monday this week in support of all our fallen heroes. Satellite Offices Now Open to Better Serve You
