Real Life Example of the Need for SB 76, Property Tax Elimination
I continued my fight for the much needed and long overdue need for property tax elimination through Senate Bill 76 by sharing a real-life example of a senior citizen and veteran who is struggling to keep his home due to his onerous property taxes. Who really owns his home: him or the state? No tax should have the power to leave you homeless. Watch my remarks:

Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program Application Deadline Extension
The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program deadline for older adults and residents with disabilities to apply for rebates of rent and property taxes paid in 2016 has been extended to December 31, 2017. As of May 26, the PA Department of Revenue had received 465,064 rebate applications. Rebate distribution cannot begin until July 1, but because July 1 falls on a Saturday this year, direct deposit payment for processed applications will occur on July 3. Applicants requesting a paper check can expect to receive payment by mail several days later. After June 30, rebates will be distributed as claims are received and processed. Applications take approximately 4-6 weeks to process. Property Tax/Rent Rebate claim forms (PA-1000) and related information can be found at www.revenue.pa.gov or by calling, toll-free, 1-888-222-9190. My Lebanon District Office (Rm. 101 Municipal Bldg., 400 S. 8th St.) also has applications.

Newberry Road Bridge Closure over Route 283 in Londonderry Township
The bridge that carries Newberry Road over Route 283 in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County closed this week for a rehabilitation project that includes substructure and concrete beam end patching, installing new expansion dams (i.e., bridge joints) and placing a latex-modified concrete overlay. A detour will direct motorists around the bridge closure by way of Swatara Creek Road, Creek Road and Schoolhouse Road. The bridge, which carries approximately 700 vehicles daily, should reopen to traffic mid-August.
