The 2018 legislative session is getting underway, beginning with Tuesday’s re-election of the Senate President Pro Tempore, Joseph Scarnati III. The pro tempore serves as presiding officer of the Senate in the absence of the Lieutenant Governor, appoints all committee chairs and members, and is designated as second in the gubernatorial succession, behind the Lieutenant Governor.
